Go The Himalaya is more than a trekking company — we are a community-driven Nepal travel operator committed to responsible tourism, environmental protection, and sustainable community development in the Himalaya.
We believe in growing together while minimizing our impact on nature and contributing positively to societies and local communities. Our company’s mission and vision are centered on helping others. For many years, we have been supporting porters’ families and underprivileged households. We also build meaningful connections between hosts and visiting families, encouraging friendship and mutual support across cultures. Join the Go The Himalaya family and experience a purposeful trek.
We believe that even small actions taken by trekkers can significantly reduce negative impacts on the environment and local communities.
We strictly follow the guidelines and also encourage our clients to follow as well.
Nepal is a land of remarkable diversity, home to 14 of the world’s highest mountains, the birthplace of Buddha, and a rich blend of natural and cultural heritage. Since Nepal opened to the world in the 1950s, it has become a dream destination for trekkers, climbers, and explorers. What began as daring mountaineering expeditions has grown into a tourism industry that now supports thousands of families. With more than 1,300 climbing peaks and numerous trekking routes, tourism is truly a great asset for Nepal.
However, along with opportunity has come a growing challenge. As tourism and globalization reached remote Himalayan valleys, modern solid waste followed. Communities without experience in managing these materials and lacking proper systems were left without support. Over time, plastics, cans, and other non-biodegradable waste accumulated and were often dumped into rivers, forests, or open fields. Weak implementation of government policies has made this problem worse, and Nepal continues to rank low on global environmental indices. Today, littered trekking trails and unmanaged waste near hotels and streams are common sights.
A clean and healthy environment is a right for both present and future generations. The Himalaya we enjoy today must be preserved for those who come after us. As trekking professionals and mountain lovers, we see it as our responsibility to protect this fragile region.
For many years, we have been quietly picking up waste during treks. Individually, these efforts seemed small, but together they have become a movement. Today, we are proud to lead the Litter Free Himalaya campaign, an initiative focused not only on cleaning the mountains but also on raising awareness about Nepal’s growing waste problem.
Cleaning alone is not enough. Our team is working to create practical and sustainable waste management solutions in remote Himalayan regions. Alongside cleanup programs, we collaborate with local communities, educate trekkers, and encourage government involvement. Our goal is to keep trails, villages, and mountains clean now and for generations to come.
Join us in this journey. Be part of the Litter Free Himalaya movement and help protect the natural beauty of Nepal’s Himalaya. Our goal is simple: clean trails, clean villages, and a clean Himalaya for future generations.
At Ohhee Khusi Nepal Foundation Educational Project and Hostel
Ohhee Khusi Nepal Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality education to disadvantaged children aged 8 to 13 in Gandaki Province, Nepal. Recognizing education as a driving force for social change, the foundation established the Ohhee Khusi Nepal Foundation Educational Project (OKNF Hostel) in 2022.
The foundation was created under the same leadership of Deependra Chapai with the goal of supporting children from remote and underprivileged backgrounds. Many of these children must work to support their family income. Their families may not prioritize education, and schooling in rural areas is often of low quality, meaning that even attending school does not always lead to meaningful learning.
Children are selected mainly from remote, disadvantaged families, including those with disabilities or orphaned children. After careful evaluation, we work with local government authorities to select students and bring them to the hostel.
The Hostel collaborates with Samata Shikshya Niketan School in Prasyang, where all our children study. We employ a caretaker and a part-time teacher who look after them and support extra learning activities to help unlock their potential. Our executive committee manages their needs and raises the necessary funds.
